In Sardinia Pablo Volta photographed the archaeology of the nuraghe, Romanesque buildings, miners in Carbonia and salt pans in Cagliari, huts made with bulrushes in Sinis, farmers in Macomer. Barbagia charmed him: Orgosolo, Desulo, Carnival in Mamoiada. His photos express a new idea of art, politically involved in the reconstruction of Italy after the Second World War. This volume presents a selection of black and white illustrations and an opening essay by Uliano Lucas, a photographer and photography historian, and Tatiana Agliani.
